Shirley Fletcher studied painting and printmaking at Hornsey College of Art in London. She later moved to Saltburn-by-the-Sea on the North East Coast.
Her work is mainly based on the figure, taken either from life, or by using figures drawn from life to create work from her imagination.
Shirley is an expert print-maker and currently produces collagraphs, a notoriously difficult process. She also paints large works that are often full of figures, meanings and expressions of life. Her use of colour is top-class and these works are a real joy to hang.
