John McCombs NDD, ROI, RBA, FRSA, PMAFA was born in Manchester in 1943. He studied painting at St Martin’s School of Art in London (1962-67) under Gore and Kossoff. After college he returned north to become a professional artist. He is a member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, the Royal Society of British Artists, the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts and was also elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. McCombs is a founder member of the New Manchester Group of Artists.
He is listed in Who’s Who in Art, and has won many prestigious awards for his work.
John is a landscape and figure painter whose subject matter is essentially the Pennine landscape centred around Delph in Saddleworth. He also likes painting subjects showing the social and working life of the village.
