Jake Attree

Jake Attree was born in York in 1950. He Studied at York College of Art, then at Liverpool Art College under such influential teachers as Mike Knowles, Peter Prendergast, John Virtue, Peter Crabtree and Nicholas Horsfield, and then at the Royal Academy of Arts in London from 1974-77.

Drawing is paramount to Jake’s work. He is a figurative artist in the sense that everything he paints is based on something he has observed and almost certainly drawn. No matter how far the paintings may depart from the subject that inspired them, they nevertheless are rooted in and dependent upon these initial observations.

Jake has exhibited at solo shows across Britain, including at Cartwright Hall, Bradford, and in Holland, Germany and the USA. His work is in various public collections as well as private collections throughout the world.
